A bulk quote is built in two layers.
1. The Market Base — Shared by Everyone
This is the NPA price build-up, which moves with the twice-monthly windows and the prevailing ex-refinery price. It is the part of the price the whole market shares, and it is published as a structure you can read.
2. The Contract-Specific Layer — What Makes It Your Price
- Volume and how regular it is
- Delivery points — how many, and how far apart
- Delivery schedule and how critical continuity is
- Fuel grade and specification
- Storage arrangements, if any
A mine taking large regular volumes to one site is not priced the same as a factory taking smaller variable volumes to several. That second layer is precisely why a bulk quote is a quote and not a shelf price.
